Kirontech's brand redesign in motion

In keeping visual consistency with the UI Design System (covered in the UX-focused Case Study) Kirontech's brand reboot included motion design, web and interaction design.

Communications

Brand in motion

The brand extended itself beyond static guidelines or minimal animations, putting itself in full motion to convey its message with all from statistical evidence to playful visual metaphors. An example of this is the following comms piece for CegeDim Australia 2019.

Website interaction design

A lot can also be achieved, interactively. To better illustrate how a complex hierarchy of proof points and marketing microcopies should disclose progressively throughout the website, I made a quick mockup with Principle App. Transitions would be dealt with Javascript listeners and other relevant CSS+JS tricks, such as switching relative to absolute position at a scroll point with eased transitions.

Typography with Purpose

The basic Elements

Choosing the right typeface has been often associated with picking a tone of voice; — so strong brand identity begins with thoughtful use of a font family.

After presenting various options, we selected Radikal, a commercial typeface that struck a balance between technical precision and approachable professionalism. It's above-average legibility across digital and print, but also its distinctive 'K' glyph provided a personality —a recognisable visual "hook" for the Kirontech name.

Then I tested how Radikal font balanced visual weights and white space, ultimately crafting a logo that suggested the shape of two opposing chevrons. The inverse shape created by the 'K' character formed a closing ">" bracket—a meaningful nod to the programming syntax that underpins Kirontech's product.
